IMBA trail names?
« on: January 01, 2012, 08:38:16 PM »
OK Guys some names for the new IMBA trails....

My suggestion is to leave the trail from Lyster to the Dogs as 'Upper Buckle' and the Link between Boys Farm to the intersection as 'Buckle Up' and the intersection down to buckle as 'Buckle Down'

If anyone has any names for them please post them up :)

Ha Ha... I love this game :)

When I rode (I mean snuck onto) the trail the other day the first thing that happened was a huge Huntsman hitched a ride on my knee... aaahhhh!! So my contribution to trail names are:

1. Huntsman
2. Twisted fate

Although sticking with the "Buckle" terminology is also a goer :)

I like your names Andy, the only issue is will there be confusion with the old buckle?  or is that going to be closed?

I don't know for sure, but the assumption is 'no' the original buckle will be left open....

The link from Lyster to Follow Me could be called Farm Boy...

Only a suggestion but would it be worthwhile looking at the plans for new trails over the next 12months and naming more wholisticly? Riding around the park there are quite a lot of tapes/markers which I suspect are for planned trails so it may be better to determine names well in advance (particularly when new link tracks go in)?

Labrat; love the huntsman story & idea...The top part of Middle was initially called spider because of the webs of orb weavers you rode through if early in the morning (usually ending with 2-3of spiders hanging off your helmet by the time you reached Donelans track) so would be slightly nostalgic to have one of the new trails recognise some of the local 8 legged wildlife. Some other thoughts along local wildlife lines are Yellow worm, Boomer, Flyer, Echidna, Nightjar.

As it's the top of the park - (Northern + Highest) maybe something like "NORTH POLE" - or "UPTOWN GIRL"...?

And yep - the link-up trail could be "FARM BOY" - for the link to Follow Me...

When I rode it, I like the way it goes from the grassy rocky bit - into some dark shady areas - how about "ROCKSHADE" ??

*** Whatever it's called - it's an awesome trail !     Maybe it should be "JFR" - meaning "just f'in ride" !!   :)

I'm still liking my Huntsman name, although a friend of mine now calls the new trail "chocolate superhighway" and it's starting to stick with all our crew  :-\ .. better get a name soon
