Mapping
« on: April 06, 2011, 04:54:13 PM »
Ok folks now i have had some good inspiration from the other side of the ditch (or dutch as they say in those parts) the all new sparkly map of lysterfield and its trails is now in production. We are using some super spiffy GPS equiptment to get some super accurate traces of the trails and will be able to add more trails and release new maps when they are built very easily. Stay tuned! ;D

HELP Call for GPX info
« Reply #2 on: June 14, 2011, 09:41:04 AM »
Just an update on the mapping. Ive put together a base map thats beginning to look rather nice and have some GPX files which Andy provided and Dave kindly converted for me so i could put them onto the map however........

Im still missing a load of tracks!

Does anybody have any GPX or KML files of thier rides around Lysterfield? If so please can you PM me as im not far of getting something good out.

Cheers Nick

If no one comes up with the goods, you could give mapmyride.com a go. Just switch the view to satellite and turn off 'follow roads', then trace the trail out. You can then export it as a gpx file.

Depends which trails your missing though, as tree cover on the sat view might make it tough to trace the route, plus the satellite images may be outdated now?

Looking forward to seeing this new map though.

Might be a bit densely treed then for mapmyride. If I get chance in my lunch break I'll have a quick look.

I've got gps data saved from recent rides but it's on in the strava android app. I'm waiting to hear back from strava about getting it out as a GPX file,  I can't even figure out where it's saved..

Next time I ride it I'll use a different app that I know I can grab a gpx.

Just had a sneaky peak on mapmyride, no good, you can't see the tracks through the tree cover.

Might be worth emailing them to me and I'll forward the converted GPX on if Nick is ok with that.
